This event takes place on the unceded and ancestral lands of the S'olh Temexw (Stó:lō) peoples.

At First Directions, Indigenous youth from across BC will come together to develop short videos on this year's theme of Art & Activism! During First Directions, 10-15 Indigenous youth will:
Program dates: March 21-26, 2022

YouthCO will cover travel costs to and from the retreat, as well as meals and accommodations during the training, and will work with families and communities to ensure safe transportation for all youth.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? 

The program is open to Indigenous youth in BC.

We welcome any level of experience, and youth who are female-identified, LGBTQ2S+ or who have disabilities or face systemic and structural barriers are encouraged to apply.

WHAT IS YOUR COVID SAFETY PLAN?

We recognize that this is a difficult time in a lot of ways, and we hope that being together will bring social connection, joy, and a sense of belonging. Having said that, we want to keep you and our facilitators safe. Please see here for COVID safety details.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

We will supply all of the necessary equipment - you only only need to bring your creativity and a willingness try new things! We will support you through the whole process.

I'VE NEVER MADE A FILM BEFORE. CAN I STILL SIGN UP?

YES! Whether this is your first film or you are a seasoned pro, this experience will be a fun self-exploration into film making, story telling, and personal reflection.
