Building on the success of our previous Black Brilliance programs, BLACK BRILLIANCE 3.0 will be our first in-person program in 18 months!  In this groundbreaking 6-day filmmaking workshop, young Black artists will create an original film, with the mentorship and support of Black media artists and youth facilitators.

We are very excited to be partnering with Vancouver Film School, who are generously hosting this program at their gastown campus (151 West Cordova).

This program is a Black space and no previous experience is necessary!

PROGRAM ORIGINS

We stand in solidarity with the call for Black liberation. In light of recent movements to address police brutality and anti-Black racism across the world, we've been looking at how to do our part.

We welcome any level of experience, and youth who are female-identified, LGBTQ2S+ or who have disabilities or face systemic and structural barriers are highly encouraged to apply and will be prioritized.

WHAT IS YOUR COVID SAFETY PLAN?

We recognize that this is a difficult time in a lot of ways, and we hope that being together as a community will bring some important social connection, joy, and a sense of belonging. Having said that, we want to keep you and our facilitators safe. Please see here for our current COVID safety plan.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

We will supply all of the necessary equipment - you only only need to bring your creativity and a willingness try new things! We will support you through the whole process.

I'VE NEVER MADE A FILM BEFORE. CAN I STILL SIGN UP?

YES! Whether this is your first film or you are a seasoned pro, this experience will be a fun self-exploration into film making, story telling, and personal reflection.
