REEL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When is the submission deadline?
Friday June 15, 2012 at 5pm, by mail or delivery to the address on the submission form.
When do I find out if I my film was selected?
After the submission deadline, the videos are shortlisted and juried by a youth jury, and then curated to form a 90-minute festival program. We will let you know in September if your film was selected for the touring festival.
When is the Reel Youth Film Festival?
The festival premiers at the Vancouver International Film Festival in October (we announce the exact date in September). The Reel Youth Film Festival then continues to screen in communities across North America, until the following October.
You can check out the tour schedule here.
And find out about screening the festival in your community here.
How many films can I enter?
There is no limit to the number of videos that you can submit. However, considering that it is unlikely that more than one film from the same film maker would be selected, we suggest choosing your very best ones to send in!
Is it okay if an adult helped me direct or edit the film?
It's okay if you had help from some one over age 20, as long as the majority of the artistic direction and video production was by youth.
Can I use some one else's music in the video?
Yes, but only if you have written permission from the artist that created the music. As well as crediting the musician at the end of your film, please include written permission from the artist with your submission form.
