These films were made in the 2022 Cortes Island School video production program. Over the course of 5 days, students at the school worked with Reel Youth facilitators to explore issues that they care about, and then made these 3 charming short films to share their views.
Check out more films that we have made on Cortes, in 2020, in 2019, in 2016 at the HollyHock Invention Film Camp, with the Strathcona Regional District (2013 and 2014), Decoda Literacy Solutions, at the Re:Invent Summer Film Camp, and with the Southern Cortes Community Association.
In our work we strive to embody what we hope to see in the world—a just humanity and community in which people are free to be themselves fully and without fear. A community where no one is exiled or silenced because of gender, gender expression, race, color, ethnic or national origin, religion, sexual/affectional orientation, age, class, physical character or disability. We believe in the power of storytelling to make connections across difference.
